I just checked, and my Mass Media grade is a B. Better then I expected (although I still wish it were an A)!
All of my Christmas shopping is done. Tomorrow I plan on wrapping everything and organizing and cleaning. Sounds like fun?
Gosh, I almost cannot wait until Christmas is over. I can live without all the added traffic while driving and crowds while I'm shopping. And not to mention that once Christmas is over we can finally take down our tree. Hamlet has enjoyed running around the tree, trying to eat the tree, trying to pick up presents by the bow and running around with them, jumping on presents and smushing them, etc. It's almost like a never ending hell =/ lol.
And I cannot believe Chantal didn't win ANTM! I thought for sure she would because she seemed to want it the most. Little tid bit of the day (or night?)- did you know that Tyra used to be on Fresh Prince of Bel-Air? Daniel is watching it right now and Tyra is on the screen-- which sparked my ANTM remark. I am glad Saleisha won though, and I would have been happy no matter who won. I just felt that Chantal deserved/wanted it the most.
Yawn. Well I'm off to sleep. Since the semester is over (and all the stress that comes with it) I will probably be on here a lot more. Speaking of which, it is so weird not having to worry about anything. I keep on going over "what I have to do" in my head and then realize that the answer is nothing. Strange, but nice.
xoxo, -Jessy
PS: look how cute Hamlet looks in his little sweater! It even has a hood. But ew, his eyes look so demented. Trust me, without the glare of the camera they are a really beautiful dark brown =D.
I have to say that finally looking at my grades took a huge load off my mind. I was so worried about my english grade because I had absolutely no idea where I stood in the class - the professor never returned essays or tests and I was too much of a sissy to meet her in her office hours.
The other class I'm worried about is Mass Media. If I get a C or lower in the class I am going to report the professor somehow. She didn't teach us anything. She assigned every person a chapter in the book and assigned us days when we would present the chapter. So pretty much it was the students teaching the students. She never went over what would be on the exams, and when asked what we should specifically study she told us to read the book. So I did the reading for the first exam and I got a C, so that method didn't work very well. In fact, the whole class failed that test. Two people got C's and the rest got D's and F's.
Anyway, while checking my grades I noticed that I one of the classes I signed up for in the spring semester was cancelled. So I had to rearrange my schedule earlier today because of that. Grrr. So now I'm taking:
-Introduction to Theatre
-Introduction to Music
-US Reconstuction through WWII
-Yoga
-Computers (might drop this)
-Newswriting for the Media
That is A LOT of classes, but all of them should be easy except for the Media and Reconstruction ones. The spring semester will be my last semester taking lower division courses. I will be able to start taking upper division- or junior level classes after that. All I have left to do really is finish up my general education classes, so that is why most of the classes I will be taking sound kind of dumb. Newswriting is the really important one because it is a prereq for my minor. The computer class is recommended for my major, but not required. So I might drop that and take only 13 units instead of 16. We'll see how I feel as February gets closer =).
On Monday I need to start a new birth control pill pack, but my insurance has yet to mail me one. I went to the gynocologist a month ago, got the new prescription, mailed it in right away, and then waited. My insurance requires that I get all prescriptions through mail order- so I can't go to a pharmacy like a normal person. I called today and it is still processing. My order has been processing for two weeks now! Grrr, grrr and more grrr. So I called the gyno and they faxed my prescription over to the pharmacy. I am going to have to straight out pay for the prescription because I absolutely cannot wait for them to mail it.
Without the pills I will gain weight, not have periods, and get hairyer (sp?). Minus the physical problems that will occur without the pills, not getting my period is even worse. I am at risk for uterian cancer if I don't have a menstrual cycle once a month, and not to mention I randomly get hormonal for no reason. I'm worried that my insurance forgot that I have PCOS and is wondering why they are covering me for the pills. When I first started on the pill it was absolute hell with the insurance because they do not normally cover birth control. So we had to prove that I had a situation that required the birth control, but it took forever! If we have to do that again, I swear....
Hawthorne Heights used to be one of my favorite bands, and Casey's death came as a shock to me. I really want to know his cause of death, but it hasn't been released yet. The band says that they can say for sure he was not doing anything illegal. We'll see though. He might have been on something without anyone being aware of it. I hope not, but you never know.
So when was the last time I updated this thing? It's been a WHILE. For all my invisible readers, I apologize. Life has been so hectic, insane and stressful over the past month. I have written so many essays that even the mere thought of writing for pleasure gave me shivers down my spine. And I love to write, so you know my professors had dumped a load of writing assignments on me.
Thankfully, tomorrow is my last "official" day of school. Friday is my first final (so I have Tuesday through Thursday off!), and my last final is next Tuesday. Yipee.
I'm officially broke. If it weren't for my mother, I'd be living on the streets.
Hamlet got neutered ten days ago. He is doing well and hasn't seemed to notice that he's been de-balled. Currently, he is laying at my feet chewing on a rawhide.
This ^ ^ is a picture of Hamlet and his sister at the rabies clinic on 11/17/07. His sister's name is Schnookums. Heheh. She is the one that is turned away from the camera. We were able to meet up with his sister's owners, it was neat to see her!
We got our Christmas tree yesterday. I haven't started to feel the Christmas spirit yet, but the tree is helping a bit. The first thing Hamlet did when he saw the tree? He sniffed around, checked it out, and then peed right next to it. And he hasn't had an accident in months! Grrr, he must think the tree means that he is outside or something.
Lately I've been in super cleaning mode, in order to sort of pay my mom back for the money she's been loaning me. Mopping, vaccumming and dusting... oh my!
Alright, I suppose that's all for now. I have to finish writing up an extra credit paper due tomorrow before I turn in for the night.
Question of the Day: Who do you think will win "America's Next Top Model"?
My answer: Chantal.
Yours...? Leave me a comment to let me know! Finale's on Wednesday!!
Everyone gets into that kind of funk where you just want to do nothing. Lately, it feels like I constantly don't have time for anything. BLAH. GO GO go go go. My english professor moved the second exam up a week early! ksjflksjdfljfs. She gave us just a few days notice, and now it is set for tomorrow. WHY, WHY WHY WHY must I have more then one test in a week?! In ONE DAY! GRR.
This is the reason why I am very much looking forward to my four day weekend. All Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday... for myselffffffff. I'm sure- or rather, I know I will have studying/homework/projects to do, but I'll do it all on Friday so I can have a blissful three days of nothingness. Of reading the new Dean Koontz novel I just bought, and of taking long walks with my dog. I can't wait.
Today I had my advising appointment with my... well advisor. Duh. I didn't like her very much. After explaining to her that my last semesters grades were due to the fact that I had mono, she had the balls to ask me whether or not I was going to pass everything this semester or not. I wish I had smily's because I would totally put a mean face right here. Anyway, it should clearly be obvious that I am a good student (and was not lying about having mono), and for the following reasons:
A) All the credit I have from AP classes, that she actually commented on.
B) My Fall 06' grades were very good.
C) I had doctor's notes with me proving that I was sick.
D) Okay, that's all. But I just really wanted to have four reasons =)
Right now, my grades are awesome. In Argumentation, I have 205 points out of 190- which puts me at a whopping A+. In Health, I also have an A+ (but I couldn't tell you the exact numbers). In Mass Media, I have a 90.2%. I'm not entirely sure about English, because I haven't gotten back any of the essays I have turned in yet. However, I doubt that I am failing. In Biology, if I guesstimate from my test and homework scores, I probably have around a B. The first test I got 72% (I was pissed about that, did I blog about it? Can't remember...) and the last one that we just took I got an 86%. It's really funny if you think about this from my point of view. I have already taken this class in high school. I passed the AP test for it, but yet for some odd reason CSUS won't give me credit for it. I decided to take it again because I thought it would be easy. It actually IS easy. The major problem is that she writes her test extremely tricky. She'll have A, B, C and then D is A&B and E is all of the above. I try to pick the best answer, but usually I'm wrong. Most of the time, I will put D down, but the answer is really E. I don't know. The first test only one person got an A (Lauren) and it was a 92%... so you know it's not just me.
So that puts me at three A's, one B, and one I have no idea.
Besides school, life is boring. We had an earthquake last week, and that was fairly interesting ;). I was out walking Hamlet when it happened.
I feel ready to be done writing now. If anything even mildly exciting occurs, I will be sure to post about it. Bye bye for maybe another couple of weeks! =D
What movie did you expect would be terrible, but was actually really good?
Transformers!
Hola, vox. For whatever reason, I can't seem to make myself sit down and type. It has been so long since I've been on this site that it actually made me sign in... and I forgot my password. Grr.
Anyway, life has been grand. Well, maybe that's just a bit of an over exaggeration. School wise, my life is just blah. I'm starting to get to my lazy part of the semester. It always happens to me. So I have been trying to stay happy and work through it. I have so many group projects right now, it's insane! I get to completely knock one of them out tomorrow, and am very much looking forward to it. No sarcasm there, believe it or not. It will be one less thing for me to think about.
Hamlet wise, life has been great. He didn't get parvo, and has completely mastered the 'sit' command. I used to love cats, and would always claim that I liked them more then dogs. But now that I have Hamlet, I feel the complete opposite. Yesterday I went to my dad's, and his cat was so boring. Callie just mopes around and sleeps all the time. I still love Callie to death, but dogs are just different and a lot more exciting. With Hamlet, I get to teach him how to be obedient and he always wants to run around and play. Right now I'm trying to teach him the 'down' command. It's supposed to be the hardest one for pugs to learn, because they tend to be really stubborn, but he is doing just fine so far.
Everything else wise, life is just plain boring. I can't wait to be done with school. Only two and a half more years, and then I'm DONE. Lately I've been entertaining the idea of getting my master's degree. It only takes on average one to two years to get it, so why not? I'll have to see where I am in life when the time comes to make that choice, though.
Oh, I almost forgot to mention that I'm practically completely broke. Out of all of my financial aid money, I only have one hundred dollars left. *freaks out* This might sound a tad bit stupid, but I've never had to budget before. I always made a certain amount of money a week, and I always knew how much I could spend. I never had to waste time balancing a check book.... But now, jobless, and with 800 dollars of financial aid money in my hands, I've gone completely and utterly crazy with spending money. At first, it seemed as if 800 dollars would last a lifetime. In actuality, I managed to make it last about two months. Granted, I am spending about thirty dollars a week on gas, ten dollars every two weeks on dog food, and every three weeks about forty dollars on Hamlet's puppy shots and dewormer. At least I can cross out puppy shots, because he just finished those last week.
I don't know what I am going to do. I really don't want to get a job. Balancing work and college schoolwork is really hard. My grades the past two semesters proves it. In highschool, working at Burger King and going to school was easy. But it was easy because school was easy. Simple as that.
A thought just occured to me, maybe I could get a job on campus? I could be an assistant of some sort. I have the experience from working at the driving school. If I could get a job on campus, then it would be able to work around my schedule (most likely), and it wouldn't be that big of a deal. Hmmm. I'm going to go check on Stan State's website for employment opportunities. I know I have seen something like that on there before.
Drew Carey recently replaced Bob Barker as the host of "The Price Is Right". What game show would you like to host?
FAMILY FEUD!
you know what i would really like to do? i would really like to write short stories and novels and have them published. i always have ideas and i'm always jotting things down, but i can never get past the first page in microsoft word.
i need a great idea. something i can stick to, something to keep my attention for more than a day or two.
why is that so hard?
nothing is good enough.
That song was played way too much on the radio today. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE LOVE LOVE Green Day, but I heard it three times... on the same radio station. Uhhh, Green Day does have more then one song. They should have played Welcome to Paradise or something. Woo.
Our next door neighbor's chiuahaha (spelling?), that is approximately one month older then Hamlet, got diagnosed with Canine Parvovirus yesterday. Unfortunately for Hamlet, he played with Baby (the chiuahaha) two days before he got sick. He's had three vaccinations for parvo already, with only one more to go. The reason why puppies are given the parvo vaccine so many times is because there is no way to tell exactly when the mother's protection wears off. On average, this happens at sixteen weeks, but depending on the breed and if the puppy is the runt of the litter or not, this can change. If the puppy is the runt, the protection wears off sooner. If the puppy is the biggest and the fattest of all of its brothers and sisters, then the protection will last longer. If the mothers protection is still working, and the puppy gets the vaccine, the protection from the mom will kill the vaccine.
They start giving the vaccine at six weeks and continue to give the vaccine in three week intervals until the puppy is around sixteen weeks old. This way, if the mother's protection wears off at eight weeks of age, then the nine week vaccine will help immunize the puppy against parvo.
Hamlet was the second biggest of his litter, so hopefully the mothers protection hasn't worn off yet. And if it has, then lets hope at least the last vaccine will work to protect him.
The incubation period is three to fifteen days, so we're just playing the waiting game. I bought Hamlet puppy vitamins to help boost his immune system, but that is about all I can do for now. I also looked up natural preventative care for parvo. What I came up with sounded convincing, but we decided not to use it because a) we'd have to travel over two hours to get to the store that carries it, and b) there is still the chance that Hamlet won't even get it, and this preventative medicine is expensive. The only problem with [b] is that if he does get parvo, it will cost a lot more then the preventative medicine.
Anyway, I'm trying not to worry about it.
Right now Hamlet is running around the house with all the happiness and glee that comes with being a puppy. I lurvee him soo much. <3
